Open post-doc positions!
We have exciting opportunities for two post-doctoral fellows to join the lab of Prof. Nícolas Hoch at the Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Chemistry, University of São Paulo, Brazil. This is one of the leading research centers in Latin America, with a friendly and well-funded environment that offers many exciting opportunities for collaboration, located in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of São Paulo.
The project is funded by the Wellcome Trust (UK) and aims to study the roles of a post-translational modification called ADP-ribosylation in the interferon response, particularly to understand the functions of a new subcellular structure the lab has recently identified, called ICAB - interferon-induced cytosolic ADPr body (Ribeiro et al, Bioscience Reports 2025, doi: 10.1042/BSR20240986; Ribeiro, Russo et al, EMBO J 2024, doi: 10.1038/s44318-024-00125-1; Russo et al, J Biol Chem 2021, doi: 10.1016/j.jbc.2021.101041).
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology or related areas, and must have extensive research experience in cell culture, immunofluorescence microscopy, western blotting and related cell and molecular biology techniques. Successful candidates will be offered a position for an initial 24-months period at a competitive salary of R$ 12.000 (ca. USD 2.200) per month (tax free), matching prestigious FAPESP post-doctoral fellowships. Several realistic possibilities for extension of the position are available after this initial period.
