Visas and foreigner registration with the Federal Police (Graduate, undergraduate)

Graduate and undergraduate students who will remain in Brazil for more than 90 days must obtain the student visa (VITEM IV) at the nearest Brazilian consulate:

Once in Brazil, foreigners must request their CRNM (National Foreigner Registration Card) to the Federal Police. In most cases, this request must be made within 90 days.

 

  1. Access the website https://www.gov.br/pf/pt-br/assuntos/imigracao
  2. Select the option "Registrar-se como estrangeiro no Brasil": https://www.gov.br/pt-br/servicos/registrar-se-como-estrangeiro-no-brasil
  3. Fill in and print the form: https://servicos.dpf.gov.br/sismigra-internet/faces/publico/tipoSolicitacao/solicitarRegistroEmissaoCie.seam?
  4. Generate the GRU (Federal Payment System): https://servicos.dpf.gov.br/gru2/gru?nac=1&rec=9 
    *N.B.: the Codigo Receita STN is 140120.
  5. Pay the fee using the GRU.
  6. The appointment with the Federal Police can be made directly through the website https://servicos.dpf.gov.br/agenda-web/acessar or with USP's help. Please contact CRInt (crintiq@iq.usp.br) for assistance.

For the Federal Police appointment, you should have the following documents at hand:

  1. The filled form, printed;
  2. The paid GRU with proof of payment;
  3. The original visa application form (not a copy);
  4. Two recent 3x4 headshots, undated.
  5. Passaport (or laissez-passer), valid, and simple photocopy of all pages.
