How to apply

Prerequisite

An undergraduate degree in chemistry or a similar area.

 

Application

Applications are open twice a year either via online application SIAD (via Admission Exam in Chemistry) or by email to ccp@iq.usp.br (via GRE). Candidates do not have to have a supervisor prior to taking the Admission Examination in Chemistry, but an acceptance letter will be required before enrollment. Proficiency in English language is not necessary for admission, but will be required later (before the qualification exam) for applicants whose primary language is not English.

 

Admission Examination:

 The are two examinations accepted:

1) Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Subject Test Chemistry with a minimum score or 700. The GRE examinations consist of around 130 specific questions (15% Analytical Chemistry, 25% Inorganic Chemistry, 30% Organic Chemistry and 30% Physical Chemistry). Dates and examination places, as well as model exams, can be obtained at the site www.gre.org. Results of the Graduate Record Examinations – GRE, have to be sent directly by Educational Testing Service (ETS) to the Instituto de Química (Institution Code: 4899, Name: Instituto de Quimica U Sao Paulo). OR

2) Admission Exam in Chemistry (written exam)  promoted by the Program’s commission. Such an exam occurs twice per year (Dez/Jan or JunJul) and is performed simultaneously in many locations around the world (the exam is being applied on-line during COVID). If you wish to take this exam and it is not available in your region, please contact us by e-mail. Exams in English are available under request. The result is valid for 3 years for enrollment at any time of the year. For information about fellowships, see FELLOWSHIP
