Chemistry is one of the most important areas of scientific research, contributing decisively to technological advancement in frontier areas such as nanotechnology, drug planning, materials, and environmental chemistry. The Graduate Program in Chemistry within the University of São Paulo focuses on linking cutting edge Science with the development of highly qualified, competent, independent and innovative graduate-level researchers.
It is a well-established graduate program, evaluated with the highest scores by CAPES (the branch of the Brazilian Ministry of Education for Graduate Studies) since the graduate program review system was implemented. The Program has a tradition of more than 5 decades and continues to be the most important training / irradiation center in South America, generating a unique environment that allows the formation of highly qualified human resources. More than 70 supervisors within the general areas of Chemistry, mostly from the Chemistry Department, University of São Paulo, but eventually from other Institutes. More than 40 research laboratories with modern instrumentation, and an Analytical Center that is considered a reference in the continent.
